Francisco Pizzaro

Nobody knows when he was born, but studys show Francisco Pizzaro was either born on June 26 1471 or 1476. He was born in Trijillo Extremadura, modern Spain. He was a spanish conquistador, conqurer of the Incan empire and the founder of Lima. On February 13 he sailed from Spain to the new world. With him was 30 ships that contained 2,500 colonists. In 1513, he and Vasco Nunez de Balboa crossed esthumus of Panama and thats how they became the first Europeans to view the pacific coast of the new world. In 1514 Pedro Arias de Avila became the new governer of Castilla de oro, and he succeeded Babloa. In the next 5 years he beacame a close associate of Pedarias Davila. Pedraias Davila wanted to get rid of Babloa so he made Pizzaro arrest him and bring him to stand trial.

Babloa was beheaded. In 1524 Pizzaro formed partnership with a priest named Hernando de Luque and a soldier named Diego de Almagro to explore and conquer the south. On September 12, 1524 they left for the conquer of Peru with 80 men and 40 horses. Diego was left behind so he could recruit men and gather additional supplies. He would join Pizzaro later. The governer of Panama at first approved for them to explore South America. This expediton wich was Pizzaros first was a failure. They didnt get farther then Columbia. 2 years later Pizzaro, Almargo , and Luque started arrangements for another expedition. The governer agreed.

A new governer would take his place, which was Pedro de los Rios. He took charge in July 1526. In August 1526 they set off with 2 ships that contained 160 men and several horses. They rached the Colombia San Juan river. They all split up with Almagro going back to Panama to get reinforcments, Pizzaros main pilot named Bartolome Ruiz kept sailing south, and Pizzaro and some men explored the place. After Ruiz crossed the equator he captured a raft of natives. They carried loads of textiles, ceramic objects, and some pieces of gold, silver, and emerald. They set back to Pizzaro and so did Almagro with reinforcments. They decided to go back to the place that Ruiz found the raft in and they found a big population of natives. The natives were dangerous because of there war-like spirits.

After a long arguement between Pizzaro and Almagro it was decided Pizzaro would stay at a safer place, the Isla de Gallo. Almagro and Luque would go back to Panama ang get more reinforcments. The governer of Panama learned of the mishaps of the expidition and the deaths of many settlers who had gone with him. He rejected the third expedition in 1527 because he was afraid of the outcomes. He also ordered 2 ships to go get everyone back to Panama. Everyone went back except for Pizzaro and 13 men. After much convincing by Luque the governer agreed to give them another ship but only to bring back Pizzaro within 6 months and abandon the expedition. Luque and Almagro went to join Pizzaro. Pizzaro,Almagro, Luque, and the 13 men sailed to the northwestern Peruvian Tumbes region.

They found many riches and got good hospitality by the people. They found alot of gold, silver,  and emeralds. They then returned to Panama. In 1532 they went to the coasts near Ecuador. There he also found gold, silver, and emerald. Hre wanted to return to the Tumbes. After he got to the Tumbes he found it was deserted and destroyed. He connquered Peru in 1533. He died in Lima Peru on June 26, 1541. A group of heavily armed supporters of Diego Almagro II stormed his palace and assassinated him. They then forced the city council to appoint young Almagroas the new governer of Peru.
